Here is one thing I learned from interviewing Emilio and Giselle of Sanchero Sauces.

Just a little background, Emilio and Giselle arrived from Mexico 4 years ago as international students.

They arrived here with big hopes and dreams and were determined to achieve them despite not being able to speak much English or have contacts when they first arrived.

Now they are both working on their own company, selling Ranchero sauces (http://www.ranchero.com.au/) in more than 244 stores across Australia. And recently they were featured in a popular TV show – Shark Tank, where they got an investment from one of Australia’s most successful businessman!

My biggest takeaway from the interview was, “You have to be clear on what you want, be focus and act on it”.

What do I mean by this?

So many people arrive with hopes and dreams. But they quickly lose sight of what they want. They get distracted by friends, they lose confidence in themselves, they are not surrounding themselves with the right people or they simply lose motivation because things get too hard. All of these things can happen to you as well if you are not clear on exactly what it is you want to get out of your experience while studying in Australia.

Write your top 10 goals down. Pick the top 3. Your top 3 are the goals you should be focusing on. The remaining 7 are the goals you should avoid at all cost! Your concentration and focus will allow you to overcome any issues in your top 3 goals a lot easier as your efforts will be concentrated, you will give each goal the time it deserves and eventually go on to achieve them. When and only when you achieve the top 3 should you set your next top 3 goals!
